"Chaotic Realism!"
Bart's original training as an anthropologist introduced him to a wide range of human artistic expression spanning diverse cultures. Sketching since childhood, Bart is self-trained in several media: photography, video, digital graphics. His psychology background includes training in visual perception. He works in several media: acrylics, watercolor, gouache, Ceracolors, pastel, pencil, pen, sometimes mixing them. Inspired by Impressionism and Post-Impressionism, illustration, and woodblock prints, his style is modeled on those forms of expressive realism. Colleagues call it "Chaotic Realism!" From portraiture and still life to landscapes, Bart paints both from imagination and real life. He challenges you to tell the difference. Organizing Burlingame Plein Air Painters gets him out painting in beautiful surroundings with great company. |
